Lucifer was the Roman god of the morning star, son of the dawn goddess Aurora. His Greek form was Phosphoros. How did this become connected with the Christian Devil? This comes from an evaluation of two passages in the Bible (one in the Book Ezekiel and the other in the Book of Isaiah), which many scholars believe to have really been a reference to corrupt kings, not the Devil. Jesus is called the morning star or “Lucifer” in the Book of Revelations; this is a little problematic, to say the least. Even Luciferians cannot agree on who Lucifer is.
